ARIZONA KIDNEY FOUNDATION
SUPPORTING INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN NEED THROUGHOUT THE STATE.
Arizona Kidney Foundation (AKF) was founded in 1963 by two physicians to make newly developed life saving dialysis treatment available to Arizonans diagnosed with chronic kidney failure. The Foundation now employs 14 people and works with hundreds of volunteers across the state to improve the lives of these patients and their families.

AKF is the major voluntary health agency in Arizona seeking solutions for kidney and urinary tract diseases through education, prevention and treatment. The Foundation’s many programs bring help and hope to thousands of dialysis patients and transplant recipients. Further, it provides community education about kidney health and the prevention of chronic kidney disease, and encourages support of organ donation.
As it moves forward, the Foundation continues to support individuals and families in need through direct financial aid for the costs of medications, transportation, nutritional supplements, dental care and emergency living expenses. AKF initiates and promotes efforts to increase the rate of organ donation. The Foundation has greatly expanded the kidney health initiative to increase community awareness and provide critical education about early detection, prevention and treatment of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). In pursuit of this goal, AKF provides free kidney health screenings and has launched the “Know Your GFR” campaign.

These efforts are made possible solely and in partnership with federal, state and local governments, public and private institutions, foundations and individuals.
